“The black box aims to solve functional problems and attribue a contemporary image to the existing house”
The challenge consisted in solving the typological issues and habitability conditions of the original house. For this reason, it is proposed to preserve its shell, altering the internal functioning almost completely.
The lack of light, air and the bedrooms connection with the outside, led the project to invert its planimetric organization and displace the habitable areas towards the lateral yard.
For a better efficient thermically comfort, the house is covered with a facade cladding, conceiving the project as a new large metal box with a concrete crowning. Its horizontality is highlighted by large and continuous windows around its perimeter, providing quality to the interior, with plenty light and ventilation, while generating constantly visual connection with the outside.
